Arkansas Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center is a state-of-the-art medical facility in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Led by John Brandt, MD, and J. Steven Mathews, MD, the gastroenterology and endoscopy practice offers cutting edge diagnosis and treatment for gastroenterological disorders.The team at Arkansas Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center has over 45 years of combined experience. Dr Brandt and Mathews opened the Arkansas Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center in 2005. Over the past 15 years, they have averaged well over 3,000 cases per year at the Endoscopy Center and have over 50,000 patients they actively follow. It is supplied with state of the art Olympus endoscopy equipment with all of the newest technology available.
They treat adults with conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus, acid reflux, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, and liver disease. Their goal is to identify the root cause of painful and disruptive symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation. Understanding the underlying issue is critical to providing the best possible treatment.
Arkansas Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center uses advanced diagnostic tools, including FibroScan®. FibroScan is an innovative ultrasound device for the liver. It provides a rapid and accurate diagnosis for liver disease, fibrosis, and fatty change.
Anesthesia for the endoscopy clinic is provided by Chris Theodore and Heath Harris, 2 board certified CRNA’s. Propofol is the main anesthetic agent used. Pathology is provided by GI Pathology which is a nationally recognized gastroenterology pathology group out of Memphis, TN that specializes in GI cases with board certified specialty pathologists in that field. Pathology results are usually supplied within a few business days of the procedure.
They also offer endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), capsule endoscopy, colonoscopy, colon cancer screenings, and conventional endoscopy procedures. Quality and safety measures are followed by the largest GI quality improvement consortium in the world, GIQuiC. They have markedly raised the bar on efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability in benchmarking. Measures that are followed include documentation of patient history, informed consent, and appropriate indication, cecal intubation rates, adenoma detection rates, withdrawal time, appropriate surveillance interval measures, and many others.
